Bollywood Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently spoke on late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He told that Sushant had left many films for his dream project ‘Paani’. However, other directors didn’t see his dedication towards the project and thought Sushant was arrogant.

One of Sushant’s close friends and the director of his last film ‘Dil Bechara’, Mukesh Chhabra told in a video interview how excited Sushant was for ‘Paani’. Mukesh said, ‘Sushant had left many films for Paani. People felt that he has become arrogant because he has become a star, but to be honest, he was happy and excited after being cast in Paani. Everyone wants to work with Shekhar Kapur.

I was there when he was cast for this film. Like a child gets a toy and becomes happy, similarly Sushant was happy after being cast in ‘Paani’. Unfortunately, this film could never be made. Paani’ was also the dream project of director Shekhar Kapur. The film was being produced by Yash Raj Productions but later the banner pulled out of the project. After this the project was closed.

After Sushant’s death on June 14, 2020, Shekhar had claimed that Sushant was in depression for the last 6 months due to closure in this film. Sushant used to play all his characters through method acting. He went through strict sports training for ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ and similarly he did a lot of preparation for the character of ‘Kedarnath’. He was similarly excited for Shekhar Kapur’s film Paani, but later the film got shelved, leaving Sushant heartbroken.

Sushant had rejected many big films for this film, because he wanted to be completely dedicated to Shekhar’s film. Some people in the industry understood his same professionalism as his arrogance.
