Bollywood Director Imtiaz Ali is in the headlines these days because of his film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. In this film, he has shown those aspects of the life of Punjabi singer ‘Chamkila’ which were never discussed before. Recently, during an interview, he was seen openly talking about Chamkila’s caste and her behaviour.

Imtiaz Ali has made a beautiful take on the life of late Punjabi singer ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. The audience is also liking this film of Imtiaz a lot. Talking about his film recently, the director says, ‘When I decided to make ‘Chamkila’, I had thought that I would show their struggle with complete truth. I had decided that how ‘Chamkila’ reached the floor from the throne, I would portray it on screen with full honesty.

Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra have appeared in important roles in the film ‘Chamkila’ directed by Imtiaz Ali. Diljit has given a different life to the character of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. Talking about ‘Chamkila’, Imtiaz Ali says, ‘See, ‘Chamkila’ came from a backward caste and this fact had settled in his mind to a great extent. He never considered himself a star.

Imtiaz Ali continues his point and says, ‘If he had learned not to say ‘Chamkila’, perhaps his life would have been saved’. Imtiaz has mentioned Chamkila’s caste several times in his film. To this the director says, ‘Sometimes we should allow filmmakers to talk about real issues in this country. I am very happy that the audience saw in my film that it reflected the underprivileged background from which ‘Chamkila’ comes and they also appreciated it.
