There is a lot of discussion these days about the biopic being made on the famous South Indian musician Ilaiyaraaja. Dhanush is going to be seen as the lead actor in the film. Fans seem quite eager to see the musician’s life on the big screen. Recently, the title poster of the biopic was unveiled at an event in Chennai, which was attended by prominent celebrities including Kamal Haasan, Vetri Maaran, Gangai Amaran and Bharathiraja. Being directed by Arun Matheswaran, this film will be seen presenting the life of Ilaiyaraaja and his journey as a musician in a special way.
Ilaiyaraaja shares special bonds with many prominent personalities in personal life. These include the names of artists like AR Rahman, filmmaker Mani Ratnam and lyricist Vairamuthu. To further increase people’s excitement, graphics artists have tried to depict multiple actors in these important roles. The pictures show famous South actor Silambarasan TR as AR Rahman, while Madhavan is shown as Mani Ratnam and Vishal as Vairamuthu.
The poster shows a young Ilaiyaraaja holding a harmonium outside the Chennai Central Railway Station, giving a glimpse of the composer’s formative years. However, the cast and crew have not been officially announced by the makers yet. Talking about personal life, Ilaiyaraaja was married to Jeeva and the couple has three children, Karthik Raja, Bhavatarini and Yuvan Shankar Raja.
All of them are film composers and singers. Ilaiyaraaja has won five National Film Awards in his career, including three for Best Music Direction and two for Best Background Score. In 2010, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours. After this, in 2018, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, which is the second highest civilian award given by the Government of India.
