The trailer of Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan’s biopic ‘800’ has been released. This trailer was launched by Sachin Tendulkar at an event in Mumbai. Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya was also present on this occasion.
Actor Madhur Mittal is playing Muralitharan’s role in the film. Madhur was earlier a part of the Oscar winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. In that he played the character of Salim Malik. 800 is written and directed by MS Sripati. It will release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The makers have not yet announced its release date.
The other side of Muralitharan’s life was also seen in this trailer. Where he suffered the pain of riots in his childhood. He also faced allegations of chucking in his cricket career. In this emotional trailer, his journey from a common man to becoming a legendary spinner is shown.
Since Muralitharan holds the record for taking 800 wickets in Test cricket, the makers have titled the film as ‘800’. Earlier, the role of cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan in the film was to be played by South’s famous actor Vijay Sethupathi. Vijay announced the film with his first look poster. As soon as he made this announcement, he came under target of Tamilians. He was trolled badly after which Vijay decided to leave the film.
