Rajinikanth’s Jailer Earns ₹72 Crore Worldwide On Opening Day

Superstar Rajinikanth starrer film Jailer got a stupendous opening on Thursday. The film is released in theaters on 10 August. According to the report of sacnilk.com, the film has grossed around ₹52 crores in India. Talking about the worldwide collection, the film has earned around ₹ 72 crores on Working Day as well.

With this, the film has become the highest-grossing Tamil film till date in the year 2023 on Opening Day. Till now this record was in the name of director Mani Ratnam’s film PS-2. The film collected around ₹ 32 crores on the opening day itself. The first day of the release of Jailer in theaters saw 78.62% occupancy throughout the day.

The film was released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu. Talking about all languages together, the film has collected a net collection of ₹ 44.50 crore in India. Net collection does not include taxes and distributor charges. The film has collected the highest collection of ₹23 crore in Tamil Nadu, ₹11 crore in Karnataka, around 5 crore in Kerala, 10 crore in Andhra Pradesh and ₹3 crore from Telangana and rest of the states.

Jailer holds the record for the biggest opening film of 2023 in Tamil Nadu and Kerala on its first day of release. Apart from this, Jailor is the first Tamil film to be released in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which got such a huge opening on the first day itself.

The film is getting good response in the overseas market as well. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film has earned approximately ₹11.9 crore in the US. This figure is more than the collection of Superstar Vijay’s film Warisu. Warisu earned a total of 9.43 crores in the US.

Rajinikanth is in the role of Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in director Nelson’s film Jailor. In the film, Tiger tries to stop a group whose aim is to get their leader out of jail at any cost. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu, Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff.
