Jewelery worth Rs 6 lakh has been stolen from the house of actress Neha Pendse. The theft has been reported to the police by the driver of the actress’s husband. The police have registered an FIR in this matter. Ratnesh Jha, driver of Neha Pendse’s husband Shardul Singh Byas, said that the theft took place in his flat on the 23rd floor of Areto Building in Bandra West. The value of the jewelery is said to be Rs 6 lakh.
In the complaint, Ratnesh Jha said that on December 28, Shardul informed him that a gold bracelet and a diamond-studded ring, which he had received as a wedding gift four years ago, were missing. Shardul usually wore this jewelery outside and on returning home he handed it over to the house servant, Sumit Kumar Solanki, who kept it in the bedroom cupboard.
Sumit lives in the complex with other domestic servants. On the day of the incident, Shardul was preparing to go out when he discovered that the jewelery was missing from the cupboard. Even after interrogating all the servants of the house, no one had any information about the missing items. The servant Sumit was not at home at that time and when Sumit was contacted he claimed to be at his aunt’s house in Colaba.
On further questioning, Sumit said that he had kept the jewelery in the cupboard. However, when Shardul searched for it, the jewelery was nowhere to be found. Suspecting Sumit, Shardul requested him to return home immediately, but Sumit delayed returning, which deepened Shardul’s suspicion. Then Shardul’s driver Ratnesh Jha lodged a complaint with Bandra Police. Police have arrested servant Sumit in the case, but the stolen jewelery has not been recovered yet.
