Is Shaitan Turned To Be 100 Crore This Weekend

Read Time:2 Minute, 26 Second

Bollywood Director Vikas Bahl’s film ‘Shaitan’, which saw a decline of about 65 percent on the first Monday of its release as compared to Sunday, the last day of the first weekend, is now finding it difficult to reach the earning of Rs 100 crore in the first week of its release.

The film has registered a decline in its collection on Tuesday also. Now only two days of Wednesday and Thursday are left in the first week of release and whatever be the collection of the film in these two days, the new films being released from Friday are ‘Yodha’, ‘Bastar The Naxal Story’, ‘Kung Fu. In comparison to ‘Panda 4’ and ‘Imaginary’, the collection of this film is sure to decline sharply in the second week.

According to the initial trends, the film ‘Shaitan’ has earned around Rs 7.25 crore on Tuesday. The film’s highest collection on Sunday was around Rs 20.50 crore but on Monday the film lost its attraction and saw a decline of about 65 percent in its earnings. The collection of this film, which earned Rs 7.25 crore on Monday, has been around Rs 6.75 crore on the fifth day of its release i.e. first Tuesday. It is now almost impossible for the film ‘Shaitan’, made for Rs 65 crore, to earn Rs 100 crore in the first week.

There has been a lot of curiosity among the audience about the film ‘Shaitan’ starring stars like Ajay Devgan and R Madhavan. The audience, especially those who watch horror genre films, made advance booking for it. Seeing the curiosity among the people about the film, additional late night shows were started on weekends in Mumbai and as a result the film did good business on Saturday and Sunday. But, this collection was less than Ajay Devgan’s previous film ‘Drishyam 2’. ‘Drishyam 2’ had earned around Rs 64 crore in the first weekend of its release.

Now the eyes of those keeping an eye on the film business are fixed on the Wednesday and Thursday collections of the film ‘Shaitan’. The film ‘Drishyam 2’ had collected Rs 104.66 crore in the first week of its release and the total earning from theaters was Rs 240.54 crore. The first challenge before the film ‘Shaitan’ has been to cross the earning mark of Rs 100 crore in the first week of its release.

The film seems to be failing in this and along with this it is also beginning to be seen that the collection of this film is very difficult to reach Rs 200 crore despite having two big heroes in the film. The work that Tabu had done in the film ‘Drishyam 2’, Madhavan has not been able to do the same work in Ajay Devgan’s film ‘Shaitan’. Apart from this, the film is also facing the loss of the post-interval portion not being well.
