Hollywood Film Barbie And Oppenheimer Film Controversy

Read Time:1 Minute, 13 Second

The Japan branch of Warner Bros. (WB), the distributor of the movie Barbie, has criticized the Twitter page of the movie Barbie. In fact, the Twitter page of the Barbie movie commented on a post from the ‘Barbenheimer’ event that didn’t go down well with the Japanese branch of Warner Bros., the film’s distributor.

In such a situation, the Japanese branch of WB has demanded action on Barbie’s Twitter page. The official Twitter account of the Barbie movie reacted to a fan-made poster for the ‘Barbenheimer’ event. The poster depicts Barbie sitting on Oppenheimer’s shoulders. At the same time, it looks like a nuclear explosion in the background.

Reacting to this reaction, Warner Bros. Japan wrote, ‘We consider it extremely regrettable that the official account of the US headquarters of the film Barbie reacted to the social media postings of ‘Barbenheimer’ fans.

We take this situation very seriously. We request the US Headquarters to take appropriate action on the official Twitter account of Barbie Movie. We apologize to those who were hurt by these reactions. ‘Barbenheimer’ is a term used to mark the simultaneous release of Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’.

Oppenheimer has not yet been released in Japan for some reason. The film is a biopic of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who created the world’s first atom bomb.

This resulted in the death of over 200,000 Japanese in 1945, when the Americans attacked the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
