Classical Singer Ustad Rashid Khan Passes Away

The king of the music world, Ustad Rashid Khan, passed away on Tuesday. He was 55 years old. He breathed his last at 3:45 pm in a private hospital in Kolkata. He was battling prostate cancer for a long time.

Hospital sources told the news agency that Ustad Rashid Khan was responding well to the treatment. But on Tuesday his health suddenly deteriorated. He was put on ventilator support but could not be saved. Despite the illness, there was no change in Rashid Khan’s daily routine. He also used to practice in the hospital.

Ustad Rashid Khan was born on 1 July 1968 in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. He belonged to the Rampur-Sahaswan family. The founder of this gharana was Ustad Inayat Hussain Khan, who was Rashid’s great grandfather.

In the year 2006, Ustad Rashid Khan was honored with Padma Shri by the then President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Rashid Khan made his first concert performance at the age of 11. At the age of 14, he joined ITC Music Research Academy, Kolkata. He was known for his singing style.

It is said that Pandit Bhimsen Joshi had described Rashid Khan as ‘the future of Indian music’. Ustad Rashid Khan had little interest in music in his childhood. He learned the tricks of singing from Nisar Hussain Khan and Ghulam Mustafa Khan.

Ustad Rashid Khan also sang many famous songs in Bollywood films. He lent his voice to the popular song ‘Aaoge Jab Tum Sajna’ from the film ‘Jab We Met’ released in 2007. He sang famous songs like Kahe Ujadi Mori Neend, Tore Bina Mohe Chain Nahi from the film ‘Kisna: The Warrior Poet’, Allah Hi Rahm from the film ‘My Name is Khan’, Tu Banja Gali Sang from the film ‘Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana’. Were.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed condolences on his demise. He said- This is a big loss for the entire country and the entire music world. I am in a lot of pain because I still can’t believe that Rashid Khan is no more. Mamta said that his funeral will be held with full state honours. His mortal remains will be kept at Rabindra Sadan. Here his fans will be able to say their last goodbyes to the maestro.
