Tollywood Director SS Rajamouli no longer needs any identity. The name of Rajamouli, who started with South Indian films, has become famous from Bollywood to Hollywood. His film ‘RRR’ has created a stir in India as well as across the world. But there was a time when he was told that he was worthless. He can’t do anything in his life. Actually, an old video of his is going viral, in which Rajamouli is telling how his family struggled in the beginning. One thing said by his sister-in-law, whom he considers like a mother, changed the director’s life.
An old video of SS Rajamouli is going viral. In this the director is saying, ‘We started as a very rich family. My father had 360 acres of land at a place in Karnataka. By the time I was 10-11 years old, everything was sold. He had lost everything. We went to Chennai. There were 13 people in the family and we were living in a one-bedroom apartment.
He said, ‘We were worried every day about how we would pay the rent. My elder brother was the sole breadwinner in the entire family and this was the time when he got married. We call our sister-in-law ‘Amma’, we never called her sister-in-law. The director said, ‘By the time I was 22, I was not doing anything. For five years my father had been asking me to do something.
The director said, ‘One of my aunts used to scold me and say that he cannot do Kucha. Rajamouli is useless. Then my sister-in-law told me that I do not want anyone to call my son by bad names. That’s all he said to me. After this I suddenly started taking my life seriously and started working seriously.
SS Rajamouli worked as an assistant to many directors in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh. He also assisted his father Vijayendra Prasad before becoming a director in the film ‘Student No. 1’, in which Jr NTR was in the lead role. He worked again with Jr. NTR in Simhadri. He gained popularity with Prabhas’s ‘Chhatrapati’. However, Ram Charan starrer ‘Magadheera’ gave him special recognition. After this he gave many big hit films.
