Godzilla X Kong Earned Millions In Japan Box Office

Hollywood film Godzilla x Kong The New Empire is ruling the box office. The film has crossed the one billion dollar mark at the international box office. It grossed $33.7 million from 71 markets. This was good after a 47 percent decline from the previous weekend. Meanwhile, many other films – Dune Part Two also aim to reach seven hundred million. Along with this, many other films are doing good business. Particularly in Japan, the 27th film in the Case Closed franchise, Detective Conan-The Million-Dollar Pentagram, is performing best.

Among all these films, the film Godzilla X Kong is ahead by 45 percent. That’s 21 percent more than Meg 2: The Trench, 9 percent more than Godzilla vs. Kong, and one percent more than Dune. Notably in China, Godzilla x Kong has become the first Hollywood film since Mega Man 2: The Trench to cross $100 million. Godzilla x Kong is WB’s biggest film to date in Cambodia. It has been described as the best opening weekend of the Monster Verse in the UAE.

These seven markets are yet to be released. That includes most of the Middle East this week and Japan next week. The top 5 markets so far are China $108.8 million, Mexico $27.7 million, UK $14.6 million, India $12.8 million and Australia $9.5 million. Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 4 added five markets this weekend, bringing its total to 81 for $25.9 million. At the same time, Kung Fu Panda 4 has topped Kung Fu Panda 3 in overseas markets except China and Russia.

Kung Fu Panda 4 opened to a strong debut in Korea, scoring the second-highest opening day ever for an animated title in the market. It was also the best opening day of the franchise and the best opening day of the year. Overall the film made ₹6.1 million in Korea. It became the first film to remove Exhuma from number one since the film’s release on February 22. The top five markets so far are China $44.9 million, Mexico $33.1 million, UK $21.5 million, Germany $14.1 million and Italy $10.9 million.

Dune 2 added $7.2 million in 76 markets. The international total stands at $411.8 million with a worldwide total of $683.9 million. Here are the top five markets so far: UK $48.1 million, China $48.1 million, France $41.8 million, Germany $38.7 million and Australia $22 million.

Meanwhile Toho’s Oscar winner The Boy and the Heron continues its strong performance in China. The film’s global gross now stands at $294.2 million. Christopher Nolan’s Best Picture Oscar winner Oppenheimer made $887 thousand in Japan this weekend. By Sunday it had increased to $7.3 million. Oppenheimer now has an international total of $640.3 million and a worldwide total of $970.1 million as of Sunday.
