Bollywood Actor Sanjay Dutt Buys Cricket Team

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has bought the Harare Hurricanes team in the upcoming Zimbabwe Afro T10 League. The Indian celebrity will be the joint owner of the team along with Sohan Roy, the founder of the Aries Group of Companies. One of the six teams participating in the league was also bought by a Pakistani franchise.

For the league, Zimbabwe Cricket has collaborated with T-10 Global Sports, the organization that organizes the Abu Dhabi T-10 League. The Zimbabwe Afro T10 League will be a 9-day tournament. The league will begin on July 20 and the final will be played on July 29 at the Harare Sports Club. A total of 5 teams will participate in the tournament.

Apart from Sanjay Dutt’s Harare Hurricanes, Durban Qalandars, Cape Town Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves and Joburg Lions will be the other four teams participating in the Gym Afro T10 League. The player auction will be held in Harare on July 2.

One of the six teams was also bought by the Pakistani franchise. The Pakistan Super League team Lahore Qalandars also took ownership of a team in the Zimbabwe Afro League under the name Durban Qalandars. Lahore Qalandars won the PSL in 2022 and 2023. Pakistani businessmen Atif Naeem Rana and Sameen Naeem Rana have ownership of both the teams.

The league is going to be held in Zimbabwe for the first time. The first match of T-10 will be played on 20 July. The league will run for 9 days and the final will be held on 29th July. Givmore Makoni, Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, said that the introduction of franchise-based cricket in the form of Zimbabwe AfroT10 is a huge moment in the history of the game in Zimbabwe.
