Anurag Thakur Open Up About Criticizing OTT Platforms

BJP Politician Anurag Thakur said that instead of criticizing OTT platforms, efforts should be made to bring them on the right path. OTT platforms provide a huge opportunity to take Indian stories and its culture and traditions to every corner of the world.

In the last few years, OTT platforms have created new records of success. Many web series released on OTT platform achieved record breaking success. At the same time, now many big films are also moving to OTT. Recently, in a program, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur gave a big statement regarding OTT, after which speculations have started again regarding OTT censorship.

Actually, due to the absence of censorship on OTT, the makers get free rein to show their creativity, but sometimes the makers are accused of taking advantage of this freedom. Meanwhile, the book ‘Over the Top OTT Ka Mayajaal’ written by Anant Vijay was released on Friday. Anurag Thakur was also present in this program, who said that instead of criticizing OTT platforms, efforts should be made to bring them on the right path.

During this, Anurag Thakur further said, ‘The government will not come in the way of the creativity of makers and content creators, but even under the guise of creativity, a policy of zero tolerance will be adopted if anything goes wrong. If you display nudity, hate speech, we have taken strict action in the past and will not hesitate to do so in future also.

Thakur said, ‘Platforms like OTT and YouTube provide a huge opportunity to take Indian stories and its culture and traditions to every corner of the world. I see this thing as a positive. We have to eliminate the wrong things and ensure that the voice of the country reaches every corner of the world through good content.

Emphasizing the need to strike a balance between entertainment and accountability, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said, ‘The aim of the government is to encourage business, not to suppress it.
