‘Oh My God-2’ still holds at the box office. Along with the film, Amit Rai is being praised for the acting and direction and writing of actors Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam. At the same time, the director and writer of the film Amit Rai recently had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. During this, he talked about the making of the film and the challenges faced during that time.
The director told that he himself got the idea of the film after an incident related to his son. He said- Once my son had cracked the password of my G-mail account. At that time he was studying in seventh-eighth standard. I talked to the wife. It got stuck in my mind that by cracking the account one can see anything in it. This mobile will tell anything to my child.
At the same time the idea of the story came that there should be such a story of father-son, in which the son has been tricked into something and how to face his father, which is not known.
In this way it was born by adding second-third input. Started going to the bottom of the story, then came to know that everything is already available in our scriptures. From there he started writing the story of the film.
Amit further said- ‘Producer took the story of ‘OMG-2’ to 9 production houses before Ashwin Varde, but everyone refused. It also has Sony, Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker’s production house. 9 such people rejected it saying its subject is bold. Everyone said that we cannot make a film on such a subject. Finally Ashwin met Varde, then he said that it is a very good story. We make this movie. Then Ashwini Varde, Rajesh Behl and Vipul D Shah together listened to the story.
Amit said- ‘Later, when I told the names of the producers who refused one by one, they said why didn’t I tell them earlier. I said you liked the story, so thought let’s work on it. When Akshay Kumar came on board, he said that it should be done 100%. If a story has to be told by breaking the tracks, then in today’s time Akshay Kumar is such an actor who will say let’s make it.
The star who is in today’s time, would not want to do a negative role like Yami Gautam in the film. Only Yami could have done such a wonderful job in such a small character. I talked to Yami Gautam to work in this film.
Yami told me- ‘I am doing this film because this film is important’. She clearly said- ‘This role is not for me. Doing this will only harm me tomorrow, because people will see me only in the negative. People will start pushing small characters on me. But this story should reach the people. For this I will also be at a loss, even then I will do this film.
The original part of the film was shot at the Mahakal temple in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, the court etc. part was shot by erecting a set in Mumbai. Understand that 65% was shot in Madhya Pradesh and 35% in Mumbai. The court room built in Mumbai has been designed by the court of Madhya Pradesh. It took 20 to 25 days to make this set, as it was a huge set. Its shooting itself took a total of 50 days.
The scene involving getting up at 6 am to take a bath in the cold river water was difficult for the actor as it was a cold weather when the shoot was taking place. Once while shooting a bath scene with Pankaj Tripathi, he was shivering while taking a bath in cold water. Pankaj Tripathi is seen naked for the first time. Akshay Kumar is also shown taking a real bath in the film.
On the first day, Akshay Kumar came to Mahakal to shoot. Went there to visit, then someone rubbed ghost on his head. He said let it be. I don’t want to take it out. Today, after watching the film, people are saying that they are looking like Mahakal. This is the miracle of the universe, where people are saying hi to everyone by raising their hands. It seems as if Lord Shankar himself is waving to everyone. This is the miracle of the ghost. This scene was shot on the first day, so Bhabhoot was applied on his forehead throughout the film.
