When ‘Baahubali’ released in 2015, it changed the face of Indian cinema and put the Telugu stars featured in it on the world map. Director SS Rajamouli, actors Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Tamannaah Bhatia became overnight sensations, with Ramya Krishnan also being loved for her performance. However, Wamiqa Gabbi recently gave a statement which left fans of the film confused.

Wamiqa moulds herself for each role

In a clip shared on social media, Wamiqa is seen revealing that she was training for ‘Baahubali’, but the project never took off. Wamiqa said, ‘I was doing this (Baahubali). The directors kept changing, and I was still training there (in sword fighting). I kept asking whether the director had been decided. I don’t know why they stopped the project, I hope it starts again.

Considering that it has been a long time since ‘Baahubali’ hit the screens and director SS Rajamouli has also directed the successful ‘RRR’, fans of the film were confused by his statement. One person wrote with a laughing emoji, ‘The director kept changing.’ While another alleged, ‘Directors keep changing…never tell stories to get fame.’ The clip was later removed but caused a lot of confusion.

Actually, Wamiqa was a part of the Netflix project ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’, which was based on the novels The Rise of Sivagami, Chaturanga and Queen of Mahishmathi. The series was to serve as a prequel to Baahubali, focusing on Ramya Krishnan’s character Sivagami. According to the information, Mrunal Thakur was initially considered for this role which eventually went to Wamiqa. Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru were to lead the project in 2018. In 2021, Netflix reportedly removed the shot version and claimed to refurbish it in the future. Kunal Deshmukh was selected to direct but he left the project.
