Blue ticks are back on the Twitter accounts of celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan. Apart from these, the blue tick is back on the Twitter accounts of Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan as well.
According to reports, these celebrities did not buy Twitter’s blue plan. Despite this, a blue tick is visible on his account. In fact, Twitter had removed the blue ticks of verified users from its platform from 12 midnight on April 20. Twitter had said that they removed blue ticks from the accounts of only those people who had not bought the blue plan. The company’s owner Elon Musk had announced this on 12 April itself. He had said, ‘The last date to remove the legacy blue checkmark is 4/20.’
Because of this, blue tick was removed from the account of many celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Virat Kohli. Now Twitter has announced that accounts which have more than 1 million followers will get back the blue tick without taking a subscription. According to Twitter, they have taken this decision to identify verified users and keep their identity separate from fake or parody accounts.
Some celebrities had already bought Blue plan to get Blue Tick. According to reports, Amitabh Bachchan, Jr. NTR, SS Rajamouli have taken Twitter’s blue plan. Kangana Ranot had bought Blue subscription only last week. These celebrities have got their Blue Tick back by purchasing the plan.
However, Twitter is charging a monthly fee for the Blue plan. At the moment, it is not clear whether the blue tick next to the names of these celebrities on Twitter will remain intact or will not go away even after the subscription expires.
