Rocky Aur Rani’s love story is releasing on Friday i.e. 28th July. Through this film, Karan Johar is returning to direction after 7 years. Trade experts claim that the film can take an opening of Rs 8 to 10 crores on the first day.
On the third and fourth day, the film can earn around Rs 12 crore. On the first weekend, the film can do business of Rs 35-40 crores. The film is made in a budget of Rs 178 crores, the film’s starcast is also huge. In such a situation, earning less than this can be considered a failure for the film.
Trade expert Girish Johar told Hindustan Times – If the film manages to earn 8 to 10 crores on the first day, then there is every possibility that the film will collect more than 12 crores in the next two days. In such a situation, the film will easily make a first weekend collection of Rs 35-40 crores. If the collection is more than this, then it is better, but if it is less than this, then it will be considered that the film did not live up to the expectations of the audience.
Girish further said- The production of the film has been done by Dharma Films, as well as there is a huge starcast in this film. Veteran actors like Dharam ji, Jaya Bachchan ji and Shabana Azmi will also be seen in the film. The film also stars two big stars of today, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Apart from this, having Karan Johar as director will also add different credibility to the film.
Girish said that Rocky and Rani’s love story would not be affected much by Oppenheimer and Barbie. He said- The good thing is that this film is a complete family drama. It is also being promoted vigorously.
I agree that Oppenheimer and Barbie are doing well, but these are multiplex and urban oriented films. Being a family film, Rocky and Rani’s love story will attract a different audience. Girish says Rocky Aur Rani..is going to be the biggest movie after Pathan. We have seen films like Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Satyaprem Ki Katha a few days ago, both of these films also performed well. Although both these films were made in the mid range budget.
Advance booking of the film had started from 24th July. Till Tuesday, 90,000 advance tickets for the film had been sold. It is obvious that the fans are excited to see the film made under the direction of Karan Johar.
This is the seventh film made under the direction of Karan Johar. His last directorial venture was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. That too had collected more than Rs 120 crore at the box office. The film has already recovered 90% of its budget before its release. The total budget of the film is Rs 178 crores. The film has so far collected Rs 80 crore from digital rights and Rs 50 crore from satellite rights.
Apart from this, the makers have sold its music rights for Rs 30 crore. Including all these, till now Rs 160 crore has been recovered. Thus, the love story of Rocky and Rani is on the safe side at the box office.
