In a recent interview, Monica said that due to a misunderstanding, a film like Karan Arjun got out of her hands. Actually, Monica met filmmaker Rakesh Roshan at a party. Rakesh gives his visiting card to Monika. Monica did not know till that time that Rakesh Roshan was an actor as well as a filmmaker. Monica got suspicious as to why an actor wanted to invite her to him. Thinking this, he tore Rakesh Roshan’s card and threw it away.
In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Monica said- I met Rakesh Roshan for the first time at Subhash Ghai’s Holi party. He came to meet me at the party. I had seen some of his films. I thought he was just an actor. Didn’t know he was also a producer-director. He talked to me. He gave me his card and said to come and meet me tomorrow.
Monica said that she got suspicious as to why Rakesh Roshan was giving her his card. Monica further says- I thought he was an actor. I did not understand the meaning of his calling. Thinking this, I tore his card and threw it away. After a few months my manager said why didn’t you go to meet Rakesh Roshan. He is making a film called Karan Arjun, and wanted to cast you opposite Salman Khan.
Monika was born on January 1975 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. He joined Delhi University in 1995 for acting education. Monica got a chance to debut with the Telugu film Taj Mahal during her studies. It was only in 1995 that Monica got her Bollywood break from the film Suraksha. More than films, Monica has been in headlines due to her personal life. It is said that he met underworld don Abu Salem during a stage show.
Abu and Monica became friends and gradually this friendship turned into love. It is said that both of them got married as well. In 2006, Monica was arrested from Portugal for leaving India with Abu Salem and using fake documents.
Monika received a sentence of 4 years imprisonment. She was kept in Bhopal jail. After her release in 2010, she returned to the industry again. Apart from some regional films, she also worked in the serial ‘Saraswati Chandra’ in 2013-14.
