The film ‘Animal’ is releasing in theaters on December 1. Bobby Deol will be seen as a villain in this. It is being said in media reports that Bobby’s character in the film is very unique. Not a single dialogue of his will be heard in ‘Animal’ but he will be no less than a surprise package.

By the way, ‘Animal’ is a very important film for Bobby in terms of career. He has been in Bollywood for 28 years but till date he is yearning for a blockbuster film. Out of his 40 films, 28 have proved to be disasters and only 6 have been hits. In bad times, he asked Salman Khan for help and said, ‘Mamu, give me work’.

Bobby made his debut as a hero with the film ‘Barsaat’ released in 1995. Twinkle Khanna also started her career with this film. There were many difficulties in releasing the film. In an interview, Bobby had told that it took five years to make it because initially Shekhar Kapur was going to direct the film but after 27 days of shooting, he left the film ‘Barsaat’ for the film ‘Bandit Queen’.

After this, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi joined the film but he asked for some changes in the script, due to which its making got further delayed. When the making of the film ‘Barsaat’ started, Bobby was 22 years old and at the time of its release he was 26 years old. The film was a superhit. By playing the role of Badal in his very first film, Bobby got recognition across the country and also received the Filmfare Best Debut Award.

‘Barsaat’ was made for Rs 10 crores. Its total earning was Rs 19.56 crore. The film had also broken the opening record of Shahrukh Khan’s 1995 film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. The opening day collection of ‘Barsaat’ was Rs 68 lakh and the weekend collection was Rs 1.96 crore. At the same time, DDLJ did a business of Rs 55 lakh on the first day and Rs 1.56 crore on the first weekend.

After the film ‘Barsaat’, Bobby gave 3 hits in his career like ‘Gupt’ (1997), ‘Soldier’ (1998) and ‘Badal’ (2000). But despite this Bobby did not get special films. He did some films like ‘Kismat’, ‘Bardasht’, ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon’, ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’, ‘Nanhe Jaisalmer’, ‘Poster Boys’ but all of them flopped. He started getting small side roles. In 2011, he worked in the film ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ but Bobby’s career did not get much benefit from this multi-starrer film.

There came a time when Bobby stopped getting good film offers. On one hand, father Dharmendra and brother Sunny Deol are very famous in the film industry. At the same time, Bobby started struggling to make his mark in the film industry. Due to this he started getting worried and started getting drunk.

Bobby had said in an old interview, ‘I started drinking so much that I started feeling sorry for myself. I used to wonder what I lack that people don’t want to work with me. I distanced myself from everyone by taking the help of alcohol.

Around 2014-2016, when there was no work, Bobby became a DJ in high profile nightclubs and pubs. Bobby did this work for almost two years. Once Bobby had a DJ program in a club in Delhi for which all the tickets were sold out but later there was a lot of controversy in this event.

After this controversy, Bobby left the job of DJ. He also tried his hand in business. In 2006, he started a restaurant named ‘Someplace Earth’ in Mumbai. During this time, he started focusing on this and also opened another restaurant in Mumbai. Bobby tried many things but the happiness he got from acting and films, he could not find in anything else.

In an old interview given to Huffington Post, Bobby had said about his bad phase, ‘I looked at the faces of my children in bad times and wondered what they would think about me. I saw the same thing in the eyes of my mother and wife. I started blaming myself after realizing why I was killing myself. Why am I trying to move away from myself? I realized that if I want to do something, I have to work hard for it myself. And then I worked on myself and decided to make a comeback.

Salman Khan helped Bobby Deol in getting his career back on track. Bobby himself had told this in an interview. Actually, Bobby met Salman Khan during CCL (Celebrity Cricket League). There Salman told him that why have you grown a beard, difficult times come in everyone’s life, but one should not give up by accepting defeat.

Salman said- When my career was not going well, I climbed on the back of your brother Sunny Deol. On this Bobby said- So uncle, let me climb on your back. Give me some work.

After this one day Salman Khan called Bobby. He asked Bobby- ‘Will you take off your shirt? Got the answer – I will do anything for work. In this way he got a chance to work in ‘Race 3’.

Bobby had said about Salman – He is an angel for me. He came as an angel for me and trusted me and gave me a chance to work in a film like ‘Race 3’ at the right time. Salman helped Bobby a lot in fitness training and encouraged him. In 2018, ‘Race 3’ did not perform as per expectations and proved to be a flop but Bobby benefited. The doors of Bollywood opened again for him.

After Race 3, Bobby was seen in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se’ and ‘Housefull 4’. Even in his comeback, after giving three consecutive flop films, Bobby Deol got the support of OTT platform. He was seen in the 2020 Netflix film ‘Class of 83’ and MX Player’s series Ashram. Bobby, who played the character of Baba Nirala in ‘Ashram’, got a lot of appreciation from the audience. After this, in 2021, Bobby’s career started getting back on track with Love Hostel and then Ashram-2, Ashram-3 webseries.

Bobby has done about 40 films in his 28 year long career but in this long career only 6 of his films have been hits. These are-Barsaat, Gupt, Soldier, Badal, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Housefull 4. No blockbuster film has come in his kitty yet.

In 28 years, he has given 28 films which have been disasters. His first flop was ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’ which earned only Rs 7.25 crore at the box office. In the same year, his brother Sunny Deol’s film ‘Border’ was released which collected Rs 39.6 crore.

Bobby will be seen in a negative role in ‘Animal’. According to media reports, he has no dialogue in the film but still he will be able to impress everyone with his acting. Bobby’s ferocious look has been liked a lot in the trailer also.

Anil Kapoor has called Bobby’s casting in ‘Animal’ a masterstroke and said that he will give life to the film. Bobby has worked hard on his physique for his role in the film. For four months, Bobby has built an excellent body on the basis of strict diet and exercise.

Bobby had revealed in an interview that ‘Animal’ was offered to him about four years ago when he was in a bad phase of his career. Director Sandeep Vanga Reddy was shown Bobby’s picture taken during the Celebrity Cricket League in which his beard had grown a lot and his look had completely changed.

Sandeep liked Bobby’s expressions in the photo and found him perfect for the role of villain. In this way Bobby was cast in ‘Animal’. While narrating this story, Bobby had said, ‘Well, at least my days of unemployment were useful and this is how I got ‘Animal”.

Apart from Bobby, Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor will also be seen in ‘Animal’. The film has received ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board.
