Film Director Arijit Lahiri Give Tribute To ‘Tom Alter’

The film ‘Out of Time’ has been released on Jio Cinema on 15 December. Artists like late actor Tom Alter and Navni Parihar have been seen in this film. During a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, the film’s director Arijit Lahiri told some special things related to the film. ‘Out of Time’ is a science and horror story based film. Arijit told that this film will be our tribute to late actor Tom Alter.

Responding to this, Arijit said- This is about those days. When homes had VCRs and not cable and internet. We used to rent VCRs and watch movies all night long. He said that my interest in films started after watching the films of director Ram Gopal Varma.

Director Arijit Lahiri told that collecting money was difficult. Because we had no budget or any kind of funding. People around us supported us a lot for the film. He said that all the people associated with the film were our acquaintances. Some people supported the film for free while some people charged very nominally.

Who was Tom Alter?Talking about Tom Alter, the director said that he was an amazing actor. I had never thought that there would be such actors in my film. Everything gradually happened on its own. Actually Tom Alter was a Hollywood actor, who had good knowledge of Hindi and Urdu. Tom had a lot of interest in Indian culture. He worked in both TV and films in the Indian industry.

Tom played the character of ‘Gurudev’ in India’s first superhero TV show ‘Shaktimaan’. The director of the film told that when we talked to the actor for this film, I was very afraid that his fees might be high. When he read the script, he liked the script very much. After this he did not talk about the budget at all. All the actors have worked in this film for very nominal fees.

He was such a great actor that he never had to be told that this scene had to be done this way. He always gave a perfect shot in one go. Let us tell you that this film was Tom’s last film. After this he died.
