Anupam Kher was born on this day in the year 1955 in Shimla. Anupam’s father Pushkar Nath was a Kashmiri Pandit who was a clerk by profession. Anupam Kher’s primary education took place in Shimla only. After this he did his graduation from National School of Drama, Delhi and went to Mumbai to work in films. Anupam had to struggle a lot in the initial phase of his career.
In an interview, Anupam had told that in his early days he used to sleep at railway stations. However, Anupam never told this to his parents because he did not want them to feel sad. After a lot of struggle, Anupam Kher got the film ‘Saaransh’. In this film, Anupam played the role of an old father, although he was 28 years old at that time. However, Anupam had also told an incident related to this film in the interview. Anupam had told that when he had started preparing for this, suddenly Mahesh Bhatt removed him from this film and cast Sanjeev Kumar, due to which Anupam felt very bad and he was preparing to leave Mumbai and return back.
Anupam felt so bad about this that before leaving Mumbai, he went to Mahesh Bhatt’s house to abuse him. Anupam Kher had told in the interview that he had told Mahesh Bhatt that you are making a film on truth, but there is no truth in your life. I am a Brahmin, I curse you. Mahesh Bhatt was surprised to hear this and stopped Anupam. After this the shooting of Saransh started and the film was a hit.
After Saransh, Anupam was seen in different roles in films like ‘Karma’, ‘Tezaab’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Dil’, ‘Saudagar’ and ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’. Anupam has also worked in many Hollywood films. Anupam has worked in more than 500 films so far in his career. Recently in an interview, Anupam had said that he wants to work for more 25 years, there is still a lot left to do as an actor.
