During a recent media interview, director Anubhav Sinha told that he had apologized to every crew member after the film ‘Anek’ released in 2022 failed at the box office. Ayushmann Khurrana and Andrea KV Chusa were in the lead roles in this film.
Actually, the film ‘Anek’ neither got a good opening at the box office nor did the film earn well. This political thriller film was shot in the setting of North-East. In a recent interview, Anubhav Sinha said – only 20% of the audience could understand the message of the film. He said in an interview to Sucharita Tyagi that most people did not understand this film and it is not his fault, it is my fault.
“This is the only film that I messaged every single crew member after it failed at the box-office and apologized. I wasted their hard work.” Anubhav Sinha also told that during the making of the film, the USP of the film, in fact the same concept did not work in the theatres. Anubhav said – Many people had told me that the North-Eastern actors cast in the film and the film set in the North-East would be the USP of the film.
After the release of the film, the critics also gave negative reviews to the film. Made in a budget of around Rs 45 crores, the film earned only Rs 11 crores worldwide at the box-office. The film collected only Rs 1.77 crore on the first day. ‘Anek’ is currently streaming on Netflix.
Director Anubhav Sinha has made films like ‘Tum Bin’, ‘Article 15’, ‘Thappad’ and ‘Mulk’. After ‘Anek’, Anubhav Sinha directed Rajkumar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Ashutosh Rana and Kritika Kamra starrer film ‘Bheed’.
