Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyan Selvan Was To Be Made In One Part

The much awaited trailer of Aishwarya Rai, Vikram and Trisha starrer film Ponniyan Selvan-2 has been released. The story will start from where the first part ended. As grand as the trailer of the film is, its star cast has taken an equal amount of fees.

Aishwarya Rai charged a whopping fee of 10 crores for the first part of the film. Whereas, Chiyaan Vikram got the maximum of 12 crores. Trisha Krishnan got 2.5 crores to play the role of a princess in the film.

Legendary director Mani Ratnam’s film Ponniyan Selvan is an expensive budget film. A budget of 250 crores came to make its first part. Earlier this film was to be made in only one part, for which its total budget was 500 crores but later it was divided into two parts.

Chiyaan Vikram, the superstar of Tamil films, is known for his versatility. In Ponniyan Selvan-1, he charged a hefty fee of around 12 crores for playing the role of Karikalan. He had charged the highest fees in the entire Starcast.

After Jodhaa Akbar, Aishwarya Rai made a comeback to period drama films through Ponniyan Selvan. He played a double role (Nandini and Mandakini) in this film. He charged 10 crores for the first part. His strong role has also been seen in the trailer of the second part.
