Anu Aggarwal Could Not Recognize Herself

Bollywood Actress Anu Aggarwal became a household name in the 90s with her debut film ‘Aashiqui’. However, a few years later, she lost her memory in a tragic accident. After the accident, Anu could not recognize herself for a long time. Not only this, the memories of the film ‘Aashiqui’ were also erased from Anu’s mind.

In an interview given to Indian Express, Anu told that after the accident, when her mother showed her the film ‘Aashiqui’, she did not remember anything about it. Even after watching ‘Aashiqui 2’, she could not relate herself to this film.

Anu said, ‘I watched ‘Aashiqui’ after losing my memory in an accident. My mother played it for me but I was not able to relate to this film at all. I was not able to recognize the girl seen on the screen. My mother kept saying that it was me but I couldn’t remember anything. I was just looking at the face of that actress like a child.

After this, when ‘Aashiqui 2’ was released, my mother showed me that film but I was not able to relate anything to this film. Mother told me, ‘Look, this is the remake of your film ‘Aashiqui’, Aashiqui-2…’ and I asked mother what is this 2? My condition was so bad that I had forgotten even the numbers 1, 2, 3.

Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal made their Bollywood debut with Aashiqui directed by Mahesh Bhatt. After this film, Anu did many films but none made her successful. In 1996, Anu distanced herself from the limelight. After this, she had a terrible accident in 1999, after which Anu remained in a coma for 29 days and lost her memory.

These days Anu is trying to make a comeback again. She is reading scripts of many films. Dev Anand starrer ‘The Return of the Jewel Thief’, released in 1996, was Anu’s last film.
