The Cyber Crime Branch of Hyderabad Police has registered a case against actor Siddharth for his controversial tweet against Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal. A case has been registered against the actor under section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of women) and other sections of the IPC based on a complaint filed by a woman regarding Siddharth’s online remarks.
Hyderabad Cyber Crime Wing Detective Department’s Additional DCP KVM Prasad said that a woman named Prerna Thiruvaipati contacted the department regarding the matter. The name of Neelam Bhargava Ram is also included in the complainant. KVM Prasad told that the matter will be investigated and a notice will be sent to actor Siddharth.
Siddharth had apologized to badminton player Saina Nehwal by posting an apology on social media on Tuesday. Siddharth wrote in his apology – I want to apologize to you for my ugly joke. I may disagree with you, but the words and tone I used, even in anger or frustration, cannot be justified. Siddharth further wrote – I have always been a supporter of feminism. As a woman I had no intention of taking a dig at you. I hope you will accept my letter. You will always be my champion.
Saina Nehwal on Wednesday said, “Look, it’s about women, they shouldn’t target any woman like this, but that’s okay. I don’t care about it, I’m happy in my space. God bless her ” However, before this case, the National Commission for Women (NCW) had asked Twitter India to block Siddharth’s account immediately.

The family and Saina are very upset by this incident.’ He also said that I do not even know the actor, heard his name for the first time after the comment.
