SRK’s ‘Pathan Ended The North-South Debate’

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently talked about Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathan. He said that Pathan ended the North vs South debate in the film industry. Verma said that Pathan has removed the misconception from the minds of the people that now only South films can perform well and people like to watch South stars.

In an interview to Bollywood Hungama, Verma said that Pathan stopped the wave of South films. In some time, people started to feel that there is more enthusiasm and enthusiasm in the audience about South’s films. Also, now no Bollywood film is going to work at the box-office.

With the release of films like Kantara, RRR, KGF-2 consecutively and more so with their record breaking performance at the box-office, this perception was made. Director Rama Gopal Verma said that Pathan has broken this myth and reined in the South Wave and this has happened only because of Hindi star, Hindi director and Hindi producer. He further said- I don’t think there should be any concept like North-South films.

Shahrukh Khan’s film Pathan was also in controversies before its release. Many people also demanded to boycott the film on social media. This film is the highest grossing film of 2023 so far. The film had earned around 543 crores at the box-office only in India. Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana have also worked in the film along with Shah Rukh Khan. The director of the film is Siddharth Anand.
