India Biggest Music Label T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar has a birth anniversary today i.e. on 5th May. Gulshan Kumar, who started the business with a small music cassette company, created panic in the music world.
Gulshan Kumar was born on 5 May 1956 in a Punjabi family in Delhi. Gulshan did his graduation from Deshbandhu College, Delhi. His father Chandrabhan had a juice shop in Delhi’s Daryaganj area, where Gulshan used to work with him. Gulshan was filled with heart while working at the juice shop for a few days. Then one day his father took another shop in which cheap cassettes and songs were recorded and sold. It was from here that Gulshan Kumar’s career took a turn.
Gulshan formed Super Cassettes Industries Limited Company which became the largest music company in India and came to be known as Cassette King. He founded T-Series under this music company. Gulshan opened a production company in Noida. Gradually, he became popular due to singing devotional songs and bhajans. Seeing his business growing, Gulshan thought of shifting to Mumbai.
Gulshan’s fate changed after coming to Mumbai. He produced more than 15 films, in which he also directed a film ‘Bewafa Sanam’. His first produced film was ‘Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka’ in 1989. But he got his real identity from the film ‘Aashiqui’ in the year 1990.
In just 10 years, Gulshan Kumar took the business of T-Series to 350 million. Gulshan Kumar also launched many singers like Sonu Nigam, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu. In 1992, Gulshan Kumar became the highest tax payer in India.
Once when Abu Salem asked Gulshan Kumar to give 5 lakh rupees every month, Gulshan Kumar refused and said that by paying that much money, he would organize a Bhandara in Vaishno Devi. Since then, he has come under the target of the underworld.
Gulshan Kumar used to perform aarti in that temple every day. On August 12, at exactly 10:40 in the morning, he finished the worship in the temple and as soon as he proceeded towards his car, an unknown man with long hair came and stood near him and he shouted and said – have done a lot of worship, now go upstairs and worship Doing. After this, two unidentified people present there fired about 16 bullets at him and his body was riddled with bullets. When his driver tried to save him, the shooters shot him too. Gulshan Kumar was taken to the hospital, but he died on the way.
When Gulshan was murdered, he had already become an international brand in the music world. T-Series’ name also started being in top music companies. According to the reports, the business of T-Series is spread in 24 countries as well as in 6 continents. At present, the T-Series company is being handled by Gulshan Kumar’s son Bhushan Kumar. Many superhit films have been produced under the company. The company produced ‘Ready’ (2011), ‘Aashiqui 2’ (2013), ‘Hate Story 4’ (2014), ‘Baby’ (2015), ‘Bhaag Johnny’ (2015), ‘Airlift’ (2016), ‘Baadshaho’ ‘ (2017) and other films.
