The special CBI court on Friday acquitted Sooraj Pancholi in the actress Jiah Khan suicide case. Suraj was present in the court room at the time of the verdict. The court said, ‘The evidence against you is not enough, so acquittal is granted.’ Sooraj was accused of abetting the actress to commit suicide.
Jiah committed suicide on 3 June 2013 in her flat in Mumbai. Now, after 10 years of the incident, a decision has come on this. Actor and boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was arrested on the complaint of Jiah’s mother. Later bail was granted.
Police had received a 6-page suicide note from Jia’s house. According to this, Jiah was very upset because of her strained relationship with Sooraj. After this Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan filed a case against Sooraj. Sooraj is the son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.
Jiah Khan’s mother Rabia Khan said outside the court, “I have not given up yet. Final justice has not happened yet. This decision has come due to lack of evidence. CBI did not do its job properly.” She said, “The decision has come in this case, but the question still remains on how my daughter died. I have been saying from the beginning that this case is of murder. I will now approach the High Court.”
Rabia said in a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, ‘I am very disappointed with today’s judgement. The question is, how did my daughter die after all? Who killed my baby girl? It is really sad to see that we are living in a society where such people live. Whenever I tried to present evidence, it was ignored.
Sooraj Pancholi left home at 10 am today. Reached the court at 10.30. Suraj was accompanied by his mother Zarina Wahab. However, Sooraj’s father Aditya Pancholi was nowhere to be seen. The court had fixed 10.30 am to pronounce the verdict, but Jiah’s mother Rabia wanted to submit some arguments, due to which the hearing was postponed for two hours.
Suraj Pancholi’s spokesperson Deepak Sahu has issued his official statement. He said, ‘I had sleepless nights in the last 10 years because of this case. Today I have not only won this case but have also won back my lost dignity. It took a lot of courage to face the world with such serious allegations.
What I have suffered at such a young age, I do not know who will return these 10 years of my life. I am glad it is all over now. Along with me, the family will also breathe easy now. There is nothing greater than peace in this world.
Jiah Khan worked with Amitabh Bachchan in his debut film itself. The name of this film made under the direction of Ram Gopal Varma was Nishabd. After this he worked in Aamir Khan’s blockbuster film Ghajini. Her last film was Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull. Both Ghajini and Housefull films did a business of more than 100 crores.
