These days Sanjay Leela Bhansali is working on his dream project ‘Heeramandi’. They are making it on a very large scale. Sources and trade analysts related to this told that the length of this series is going to be only 6 to 8 episodes but Bhansali is shooting it like a big budget film. The great thing is that recently its 100 days of shooting have been completed but it is being heard that now it will be shot for another 150 days.
The story of this series is set in the 19th century. It will narrate the story of Indo-Pak relations from just before partition till after. At that time the real Heeramandi was in Lahore. To show that atmosphere in the film, the makers will shoot it in Mahmudabad City, 52 km from Lucknow. This portion will be shot in September this year.
Sources reveal, ‘Bhansali is giving as much time to the shooting of ‘Heeramandi’ as goes into 3 films. Bhansali and his assistant Mitakshara Kumar are shooting all its episodes. Mitakshara assisted Bhansali in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmavat’. She was also associated with him in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Apart from this, Mitakshara had also directed a web series called ‘The Empire’ under the banner of Nikhil Advani.
The series will feature Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Sehgal in lead roles. As a male actor, Fardeen Khan will return to the industry after 12 years through this series. Dozens of British actors have also been cast in the series along with them. In fact, the series has an important plot of the British Army during that time. He is represented by a character named Anderson for whom a big Hollywood actor has been cast. The name of this actor has not been disclosed yet. Rest of the key characters have been cast by NSD (National School of Drama) pass out artists.
