Kajol’s web series – The Trial – Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhokha is going to stream on OTT platform on 14th July. It is directed by Suparn S Verma. Through this series, Kajol is not only making an entry on OTT for the first time, but will also be seen in the role of a lawyer for the first time. Her opposite in the series is Jishu Sengupta.
Didn’t get the opportunity. Two-three scripts came in between, but some didn’t like the screenplay and some didn’t like the director. There are different things, because of which I said no. This time all three things fell in place for the role of a lawyer. I liked the script, director and producer, so did it.
I heard the script and found it very well written. Even the way to become a lawyer, what and how to speak it was all written. We used to have Priya Himani and her team on our sets for advice. He was being asked all the time whether it should be done or not.
How to wear the costume, how to talk to the judge. We all came on the sets after a lot of research and deliberation. We did not have to do much work for the character of the lawyer as it was written beautifully. Still, there is a way and rhythm to speak, we definitely had to work on it.
I found it very difficult to open the door. She had to do a lot of retakes because she had to carry a bag in one hand and talk on the phone in the other. Meanwhile, the door has to be opened and closed by taking out the key from the bag.
Right now ‘The Trial – Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhokha’ web series is releasing on July 14 on Disney Plus Hotstar. I am very happy and also excited about it, because people have got a very good reaction for the trailer.
People have liked it a lot, thanks to them. Right now I am doing only one film of Dharma Production. I think it will release next year. Nothing is known about the release date, but its shooting is over now.
