According to sources, Kishore Kumar’s family is no longer willing to make this biopic with Anurag Basu. Amid preparations to release his new film ‘Ludo’, recently Anurag Basu in a statement talked about the continuation of work on Kishore Kumar’s biopic. The talk of making a biopic on the late Kishore Kumar, one of the most popular singers of Hindi cinema, first started when Anurag started work on his debut film ‘Barfi’ with Ranbir Kapoor.
By the time ‘Jagga Jasoos’ was released in 2017, UTV Motion Pictures had bought Disney company Disney. Ranbir Kapoor’s film was a flop at the box office. On the other hand, since the biopic on Kishore Kumar’s biography could not start within the stipulated time frame, its rights came back to Kishore Kumar’s family. Now Anurag has started talking about this film again after eight years.
Along with UTV Motion Pictures, the producer of ‘Barfi’ released in 2012, Anurag started his next film ‘Jagga Jasoos’. The hero of this film was also Ranbir Kapoor and during the release of this film, UTV Motion Pictures bought the rights to make the film on the biography of Kishore Kumar. This biopic is written by Soumik Sen.
