Rajkumar Santoshi, director of the film Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh, has written a letter to the Joint Commissioner of Mumbai. In this letter, he has written that he and his family members are receiving death threats. Those threatening say that if he does not stop the release of his film Gandhi Godse Ek Yuddh, then he will have to lose his life.
Just two days ago some unknown people showed black flags to Rajkumar Santoshi during the screening of the film. People protesting say that Gandhi ji has been humiliated through a war, while Nathuram Godse, who killed him, has been glorified.
Rajkumar Santoshi wrote in the letter, ‘I am getting death threats through many mediums. The people threatening me want to stop the release of my film. He says that if I do not stop the release of my film then very bad will happen to me. Just two days back, some people had interfered in a press conference related to the film in Mumbai and tried to turn violent. I am apprehensive that if such people continue to roam free, they may harm me or any member of my family.
On January 20, a ruckus broke out in a theater in Mumbai at a press conference related to the film ‘Gandhi Godse Ek Yuddh’. During the press conference some unknown people sitting in the media got up and started opposing the film. Showing black flags, they loudly raised slogans of ‘Gandhi Zindabad’.
People protesting said that Mahatma Gandhi has been degraded in the film while his killer Nathuram Godse has been glorified, so it will not be tolerated at all. When this ruckus happened, the director of the film Rajkumar Santoshi was also present there.
Rajkumar Santoshi says that he has not made this film to humiliate anyone. He has said that he has neither made a film to glorify anyone nor tried to humiliate anyone. He said that he has provided a platform to Gandhi as well as Nathuram Godse through the film.
