Bollywood Film ‘Gadar 2’ is set to hit the theaters on August 11. Meanwhile, director Anil Sharma talked about the budget of the film. He said that the budget of Gadar 2 is being exaggerated. An estimate of about 100 crores is being made regarding this, but in reality it is not so.
Anil Sharma said that actually the budget of Gadar 2 is much less than this. Not only this, Anil says that Sunny has compromised with his fees for this role. Taking a jibe at the actors charging crores of fees, he said- ‘These days heroes and directors charge so much fees that the budget reaches up to 600 crores, sometimes heroes charge 150 crores to 200 crores. ‘
In the interview given to Leharen Retro, the director also talked about Sunny Deol’s fees. He also mentioned the trend going on in the industry these days, in which actors charge fees of up to 150 crores for their roles. During the conversation, Anil was asked about the budget of Gadar 2. To which he said that he would like the studio to have a say in such matters. However, he denied reports that claimed that the cost of making Gadar 2 was Rs 75 crore to Rs 100 crore. Anil told that the budget of the film was perfect and he does not think that the film was over budget.
There were reports in the past that Sunny has taken 300 times more fees for the film. According to a report in Spotboye.com, Sunny has taken a fee of Rs 20 crore for Gadar 2, while the actor charges a fee of Rs 5 to 6 crore for the rest of his films.
Talking about Sunny’s fee hike, Anil said- ‘We have really tried to control everyone’s fees. Sunny’s fee is as much as it should have been. Still, he has made a lot of compromises with his fees. These days heroes and directors charge so much fees that the budget increases to 600 crores, sometimes heroes charge 150 crores to 200 crores.
According to media reports, while Sunny has charged a fee of Rs 20 crore, Ameesha has taken Rs 50 lakh for the role of Sakina. There are two types of updates regarding the fees of actor Utkarsh Sharma, who plays the son of Tara Singh and Sakina. It is being said in some reports that he got Rs 50 lakh for his role, while some believe that he got Rs 1 crore for this role. Actress Simrat Kaur, who will be seen opposite Utkarsh Sharma, has been charged a fee of Rs 80 lakh.
He further said- We decided to spend on production. The army supported us a lot. They gave us tanks, locations, soldiers, I am very thankful to the Indian Army. We shot in UP, we got a lot of help from the ministry there. We used to shoot on main roads, we blew up real bridges. These days, many state governments provide a lot of help for film making. Not only this, they also provide subsidy. I would also request the Government of Maharashtra to take steps in this direction.
Gadar 2 also stars Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma. The film is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster film. The first part of the film had earned more than Lagaan which went for Oscar nomination in that period. At the same time, the second part of the film is going to clash with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s film OMG 2.
