Air India Express plane crashed in Kozhikode, Kerala on Friday evening. The accident occurred at 7:41 pm on the runway of Karipur International Airport during heavy rains. The plane was returning from Dubai. After overshooting the runway, the plane fell into a 35-foot-deep moat and split into two pieces.
According to the reports, the Mallapuram SP said that 16 people died in the accident. These include a pilot, three female and one male passenger. 170 people have been rescued.
Air India Flight IX-1344 was returning from Dubai under the Vande Bharat Mission. A total of 191 people were in it. These included 128 men, 46 women, 10 children and 5 crew members. At least 40 passengers are injured. The name of the pilot who lost his life in the accident is being described as Wing Commander Deepak Vasant Sathe. He was earlier in the Airforce.
