Filmmaker Avinash Das has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Gujarat Police from his Mumbai home. Earlier, the Bombay High Court had rejected his transit pre-arrest bail plea. In fact, a case of forgery was registered against Avinash for allegedly spreading fake news. The filmmaker shared a photo of the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah with suspended IAS Pooja Singhal. Along with this, Avinash has also been accused of insulting the tricolor.
Dismissing the petition of Avinash, Justice Bharti Dangre said that the director should go to the right forum for relief. During the hearing, Justice Dangre also said that Ahmedabad, where the FIR has been registered against Das, is not too far from Mumbai. That is why Das should approach the court of Ahmedabad itself for arrest or avoidance of any arrest related to this matter.
According to the police, the filmmaker’s Facebook post is dated March 17. In a statement issued by the Crime Branch, it has been said that Das had posted an obscene picture of the woman with the tricolor with the intention of insulting the national flag. The crime branch has registered a case against Avinash for insulting the national flag.
At the same time, the picture with the Home Minister was shared on 8 May. In this, while sharing the photo of Home Minister Amit Shah and Pooja Singhal, he wrote, ‘A picture of Pooja a few days before she caught cash worth crores from the house.’ However, the police said that this picture was 5 years old. In such a situation, forgery on Avinash Das and spreading fake posts under the IT Act and along with this his Twitter account has also been removed.
