Bollywood Film ‘Gully Boy’ won 12 awards, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Film. This is the first time this award ceremony was held outside Mumbai. The ceremony, which took place at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium in Guwahati, was hosted by Vicky Kaushal and Karan Johar.
Almost all the big stars from Mumbai had reached Guwahati a day before at the awards night for the main event. These include Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal, Karthik Aryan, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Pandey, Pooja Hegde, Manish Malhotra, Vani Kapoor ranvir Shorey, Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Sanya Malhotra, Usha Uthup are prominent.
These awards are given every year by the English Magazine Film Fair for the best contribution in various fields of Hindi film. It started in 1954 when the National Film Awards were also not instituted. The awards are given on the basis of the vote of the public and the members of the jury. The award ceremony was previously titled ‘The Clairs’, which was based on the name of the film critic Claire Mendinocha. At the first awards ceremony held on 21 March 1954, only five awards were placed.
