Bollywood art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai has died due to hanging. This has been revealed in the initial postmortem report. Nitin Desai’s postmortem was done by a team of 4 doctors on Wednesday. According to the Raigad police, the cause of death in the preliminary investigation is hanging. Further investigation is going on in this matter.
Earlier, the Khalapur police had brought Nitin Desai’s body to JJ Hospital for postmortem. He was found dead in his studio at Karjat in Raigad district of Maharashtra. Raigarh SP Somnath Gharge informed on Wednesday night that according to Nitin Desai’s family, his last rites will be held at ND Studio. He also said that the articles found in the studio have been seized and are being examined. The police have also taken the statement of his caretaker and driver.
Police say that Nitin Desai’s body was found hanging from a rope at around 9 am. Doug Scott’s team reached there soon after the incident. Police say they are probing the case from every angle. Police has received an audio clip from Nitin’s mobile, in which 4 people are mentioned. The police suspect that Nitin Desai committed suicide under their pressure. His statement will be recorded soon.
Nitin was 58 years old. He used to spend most of his time in his ND studio. Police sources told Bhaskar, Desai had gone to his room at 10 pm on Tuesday. He did not come out for a long time this morning.
His bodyguard and others knocked on the door. When seen from the window, Desai’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan. Police has sent the dead body for postmortem. In this case, the police have so far recorded the statements of 10 people.
Nitin Desai had a debt of ₹250 crore, the studio could have been shut down. Including interest, the loan amount on Nitin Desai had reached Rs 250 crore. The company had taken legal steps for recovery. The company had also proposed to confiscate the studio to the District Magistrate there. There was also a possibility of ND Studio being sealed.
