Actress Jayaprada Sentenced To 6 Months

Bollywood Actress-turned-politician Jayaprada has been sentenced to 6 months by a Chennai court. The case pertains to one of his own theaters in Royapettah, where the petition was filed against him by the employees. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Jayaprada in this regard.
According to a report, this theater of Jaya was looked after by her business partners Ram Kumar and Raja Babu. Under his management, the theater could not provide ESI (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation) to its employees, due to which all the employees moved the court.
Though Jayaprada appealed to the court to dismiss the case and promised to pay the full amount to her employees, the counsel for the Labor Government Insurance Corporation objected to her appeal.
Now in this case, Jayaprada and three other people associated with this theater were sentenced to six months imprisonment. All have also been asked to pay a fine of Rs 5,000. However, till now Jayaprada has not been arrested in this case. Update on this is yet to come.
Jaya was an iconic star of Bollywood and Telugu cinema in the 70s and 80s. In the industry, she was compared to female superstars like Sridevi. Both were competitors of each other. In Bollywood, Jaya gave many hit films including Tohfa, Sharabi, Aakhri Rasta, Aaj Ka Arjun and Thanedar. He left films in 1994 to join politics.
Jayaprada has represented Rampur twice in the Lok Sabha from the Samajwadi Party. She was elected MP from Rampur seat in 2004 and 2009. After this, he again contested from Rampur seat in 2014 and 2019, but he was defeated both times.
Jaya started her political career in 1994 with the Telugu Desam Party. In 1996, she was elected to the Rajya Sabha for the first time from Andhra Pradesh. After this he joined the Samajwadi Party in 2004. After this she joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal and then later the Bharatiya Janata Party.
