Tollywood Director K. Vishwanath Dies At 92

Renowned film director and actor of Tollywood K. Vishwanath passed away on Thursday night. He was 92 years old. Due to prolonged illness, he was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. His body was brought from the hospital to his residence in Jubilee Hills at around 1 am.

Vishwanath was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the year 2017. This is the highest award of the Indian film industry. Apart from this, he has been awarded 6 National Filmfare Awards, 8 State Nandi Awards and 10 Filmfare Awards.

Vishwanath worked as an assistant director on the Telugu film Pathal Bhairavi in 1951. He then directed the film Atma Govaravam in 1965, which won the State Nandi Award. His biggest films include Shankarabharanam, Swathinuthyam, Sagara Sangamam and Swayamkrishna. Vishwanath directed the last film ‘Subhapradham’ in the year 2010. In a career spanning 71 years, he worked as a director in 55 feature films and as an actor in 43 films.
