Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is entering his 79th year of life. Most people at this age are living on their previous earnings, but Amitabh is one of the busiest actors of today through films, brand endorsements and TV shows and is also setting new earning records. Amitabh, who started earning from Rs 500 in Kolkata and reached the verge of bankruptcy in 1999, again came up so that today with a net worth of 3000 crores, he is considered to be the eighth richest person in the world.
Amitabh got 5000 rupees for his first film ‘Saat Hindustani’ in 1969. After this eight consecutive films flopped. After four years, in 1973, luck shone with ‘Zanjeer’. After this, superhit films came one after the other and he became the highest paid actor of that time. Amitabh got one lakh rupees for the role of Jai in the classic film ‘Sholay’. Five years later, by the time the film ‘Shaan’ came, his fees had increased to Rs 9 lakh.
God Witness came in 1996. After this his fees had gone up to 3 crores. Today Amitabh charges 15 to 20 crores depending on how long the role is and how many days the schedule will be.
It is also not that once Amitabh started earning in films, then the graph of his earning continued to increase in the same way for the rest of his life. In 1999, he was on the verge of bankruptcy. His ABCL company took over the management of the ‘Miss World’ event in Bangalore in 1996. He suffered a loss of seven crore rupees in this event. This company made the film ‘Mrityutata’, which also flopped badly.
Even Amitabh’s property was in a state of confiscation due to the failure of ABCL. In such a situation, he talked to his old friend Yash Chopra one morning and asked for work. Yash Chopra gave him the role of the principal in the film ‘Mehabbatein’ and from here a new innings of improvement in Amitabh’s financial condition started.
It is believed that Amitabh gets Rs 3.5 crore per episode for hosting the show Kaun Banega Crorepati. If there are 20 episodes in a season, then they will get 70 crores.
Amitabh has four bungalows in Mumbai. He bought the first bungalow ‘Pratiksha’ in 1975 for Rs 8,06,248. He lived in this bungalow for years. Today all social functions take place in this bungalow. Abhishek and Aishwarya were married in this bungalow. Today Pratiksha is the iconic address of Mumbai.
