Hollywood Film Top Gun Maverick Become Biggest Weekend Opening

Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun Maverick has earned $100 million or about Rs 775 crore in its opening weekend at the North American box office. This is the first film of the superstar to earn so much. The film was released world wide on 27 May. At the same time, the film has collected 1922 crores world wide. Top Gun Maverick is a sequel to the 36 years ago film Top Gun.

Chris Aronson, Paramount’s President of Domestic Distribution, said, “I’m so happy for everyone. I am very happy for the company, for Tom and also for the filmmakers. Although according to media reports, Cruise is not known for its blockbuster opening. Prior to Top Gun, his biggest domestic grosser was ‘War of the World’ in 2005. The opening of this film was Rs 496 crore. This film was directed by Steven Spielberg.

Top Gun Maverick is a sequel to late actor Tony Scott’s Top Gun. This film was released in 1986. Cruise’s Top Gun was scheduled to release in 2020. But due to the Kovid Pandemic, the film got delayed by 2 years. Although the makers started marketing it from 2019 itself. Top Gun, directed by Joseph Kosinski, has a budget of Rs 1318 crore.

At the same time, Senior Media Analyst of US company comScore said, so far the biggest marketing campaign has been Top Gun Maverick. This campaign kept the excitement about the film among the audience. Due to this campaign, the audience waited for 2 years to see the film in the theatre.
