
The telecast of the religious series ‘Ramayana’ will start on Doordarshan from Saturday amid the lockdown in the country due to Coronavirus. It will be broadcast at 9 am and 9 pm. Actor Arun Govil played the character of Ram in the serial and he has not been able to come out of the image of Lord Ram till now. Even after 33 years of airing the show Govil It is still recognized as the Ram of TV.
During an interview, Arun himself had told that after playing the role of Ram, people started realizing him as Lord Ram. Wherever they used to go, people started looking at them and adding their hands and touching their feet. While watching the ‘Ramayana’ serial on TV, people started burning incense sticks.
Arun may have gained popularity even after the small screen became Ram, but he got his first break in 1977 in Tarachand Badjatya’s film Paheli. He then went on to play ‘Sawan Ko Aane Do’ (1979), ‘Saanch Ko Aanch Nahi’ (1979) and ‘Aisa Si Baat’ (1981), ‘Himmatwala’ (1983), ‘Dilwala’ (1986), ‘Hathkari’ ( 1995) and played an important role in many Bollywood films like ‘Love Kush’ (1997).
Ramanand Sagar gave Arun Govil the role of King Vikramaditya in the serial ‘Vikram Aur Betal’. After its immense success, Arun played the role of Lord Rama in ‘Ramayana’ in 1987. He became so popular with this role that even today people call him as the Ram of TV.
