After the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the saints have agreed to finish Haridwar Kumbh 13 days ahead of schedule. However, religious events will continue to be held symbolically in Kumbh. Juna Akhara, the largest of the 13 akharas, announced the abolition of Kumbh on Saturday evening. Niranjani and Anand Akhada have already announced the end of Kumbh on their behalf. As per the schedule, the Kumbh Mela was to last till April 30 and the last royal bath was to be held on April 27.
Dr. SK Jha, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Haridwar said that the corona report of 175 sadhus who attended the Kumbh Mela came positive on Saturday. After this, the number of sadhus coming positive has increased to 229. Seeing the growing transition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Mahamandaleshwar Swami Awadheshanand Giri, the Acharya of Juna Akhara. He appealed to end the gathering of people in Kumbh and keep it limited only symbolically.
The Center had given the task of managing this matter to the Tirath government. Confidential official talks with all the akhadas took place. The effect of these meetings also showed. Two days ago, Niranjani and Anand Akhare announced the end of the fair on their behalf. Now the government has breathed a sigh of relief from the announcement of Juna Akhara to end the Kumbh.
Many akharas were angered by attempts to end Kumbh prematurely. Mahant Hari Giri, International Patron of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad and National General Secretary of Shri Juna Arena said that the government is behind the announcement of the end of Kumbh by Niranjani Akhara. They say that no one can declare the end of Kumbh, an arena. Kumbh is a religious event. The arena is its organizer. Therefore, if the government also wants, then Kumbh cannot be closed without the consent of the Akharas.
At least 50 monks are corona positive from different akharas. Five sages have been found corona positive in Sri Pancha Nirvani. Shambhu Kumar Jha, Chief Medical Officer, Haridwar, says, “Testing has been introduced in the akhadas, but it is a bit difficult to convince the sadhus for testing.” Most monks are forbidden from testing. The team is trying to convince them.
