Bollywood Actor Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s upcoming film ‘Shershaah’ will now be released directly on the OTT platform. If sources are to be believed, the makers have started planning to release the film exclusively on Amazon Prime around Independence Day in August. The producer of the film, Shabbir Boxwala, also wants to see his film on the big screen, although he is also satisfied with the digital release of the film considering the current situation. During a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Shabbir reveals that he has been waiting for the release of the film for the past one year.
Shabbir says, “Every filmmaker wants to see his film on the big screen and I am also one of them. We have made the film ‘Shershah’ on a very large canvas, however seeing the current condition it will be released in theatres. Looks a bit difficult. The theaters are closed for the last several months, due to which many films have been stalled for theatrical release. In this situation we filmmakers will have to find a way to take our film to the audience. At the moment we have There is no alternative but digital.”
Shabbir further adds, “It’s been almost a year since the film ‘Shershaah’ got ready. For a year we have waited for the release of the film. Now it won’t be right for us to hold it for a long time. To be honest, right now. Till now I don’t know whether our film is releasing directly on OTT or not. The final decision will be taken by Dharma Productions. Look, we have to understand that some films are made on very big budget like Akshay Kumar’s. Sooryavanshi’ and Ranveer Singh’s ’83.’ The makers would like to release these films on the big screen only. Obviously, when the theaters open, they will get a chance to release these films first. I am sure whatever decision they take will be in the interest of the film itself.”
