Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma seems to be in trouble. According to media reports, a case of cheating has been registered against the director. Actually, Verma had taken 56 lakh rupees from the owner of a production house. After this he has not returned the money to the owner of the production house. Following the complaint, a case has been registered against Verma at Miyapur police station in Telangana.
According to the complainant, Ram Gopal Varma had borrowed money for the making of Telugu film ‘Disha’ in 2020. But Verma has not returned this money to me. He further said that I was introduced to Verma by a common friend in 2019. The complainant alleged that in the first week of January 2020, Verma had taken Rs 8 lakh from me for the production of the film.
After this he again asked to lend Rs 20 lakh, which I gave by check on 22 January 2020. At the same time, Verma had promised to return the money to me within six months. But in the second week of February 2020, Verma had asked for Rs 28 lakh more citing his financial condition.
The complainant alleged that I transferred Rs 28 lakh again by trusting the director. At that time Varma had promised that he would refund the entire amount of Rs 56 lakh on or before the day of release of the film ‘Disha’. After this I came to know in January 2021 that Verma is not the only producer of ‘Disha’. He alleged that Verma had taken this money from me by giving me false inducements.
