Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi starrer film has been released in theaters on August 19. Critics had high expectations from the film Bellbottom, which was released on theaters after a long time, although the film did not live up to their expectations. The film has made an opening collection of Rs 2.75 crores on the first day, while trade experts had expected 3-4 crores.
Due to the current situation of Covid 19, all theaters in Maharashtra are locked, due to which the audience here will have to wait for the film to come on OTT. The film has been released in many big cities like Delhi, Kanpur, Meerut, Bareilly, Chandigarh and Dehradun but due to lack of promotion in these cities also the audience could not reach the theaters.
According to the report of Box Office India, New Delhi is considered to be a big market for films. It has 20 percent of the audience from across the country. The film has been released in 1000 theatres. Cinemas in all important cities are also open with only 50 percent capacity. Due to which the film is suffering a lot. The film’s opening collection is less than Akshay’s flop film Joker, which earned Rs 5 crore on the first day.
Bellbottom’s collection is less than that of Rajkummar Rao-Janhvi Kapoor starrer Roohi Afza which earned Rs 3 crore on the first day. Apart from this, John Abraham starrer Mumbai Saga, which was released after the first wave of Kovid, also collected a collection of Rs 2.84 crore. This is the first time after a long time that an A-lister film has been released in theatres, so everyone had high hopes from Bellbottom, although the film does not seem to live up to the expectations of the audience and the trade.
